Tips To Keep Your Kitten Safe

Bringing a kitten home is an exciting time. Despite wanting to spend all of your time playing with him or her, make sure to follow these tips to keep your kitten safe!

  1. Other Animals:

From other pets in the home to outdoor animals, a kitten is not going to win any fights. Be aware of other pets you have and make sure the kitten stays indoor, at least until it is much bigger.

  2. Small Spaces:

It’s no secret that cats love to get into tiny spaces, even if they won’t be able to get out! This is especially true for kittens, who are much smaller and have not learned what spaces they should not go into. Favorite spots include above the refrigerator, inside couches or recliners, and more. In addition, remember that they are very small, so watch your step!

  3. Children:

Along with other pets, children sometimes do not understand how fragile a kitten is. If they are used to playing a little rougher with a large dog, remember to explain that they cannot do that with a small kitten.

  4. Messes:

If you have children, you are likely used to having some messes around the house. Just like babies, kittens will put anything in their mouths, from hair ties to yarn and more. Obviously, kittens, or any pets, should not be eating inanimate objects, so make sure to vacuum and pick up random items you see around the house!

As with any new pet, there are things to take into consideration. Kittens, being as small and curious as they are, require some extra care.
