Cat Grooming

We all know that cats can sometimes want to avoid grooming, especially certain types of cats. Rather than putting off this chore until you and your cat are willing, leave some grooming to be done by professionals. Oftentimes, pet owners avoid paying for grooming, but in turn avoid actually grooming their cats due to the hassle. In doing this, you could be missing symptoms of certain diseases that you would see had the cat had a proper grooming. Therefore, unless you are confident in your ability to groom your cat, you may want to consider going to a professional for these grooming areas.

Fur

: While it may seem simple to brush your cat, a groomer will use a variety of brushes to do it properly, especially for cats with long hair. In addition, groomers will be able to spot things like ticks or other issues that non-professionals may not be able to catch. They can also fix hair matting; some pet owners make the mistake of using scissors with this problem, which can injure their cat when they inevitably decide to move around.

Eyes and Ears

: Even if you are good with a cat’s fur, the eyes and ears are a different matter. Cats’ eyes are susceptible to eye tears and ear infections, especially without proper care. Professional groomers will be able to use special wipes and cleaning agents meant for cat care. They can address any buildup in your cat’s ear, as well as any eye tears, without causing your cat much discomfort.

Teeth and Nails

: As cats are prone to squirming, trimming their nails can be a challenge. If you trim them just the smallest bit too much, they can start bleeding. While nails need to be trimmed about once a month, you will need to get your cat’s teeth checked once a year by your veterinarian. However, a groomer can check their teeth for the visits in between going to the vet. Cats do not chew on bones like dogs; therefore, they are more likely to develop plaque buildup and other issues.

Your cat is a part of your family. Professional grooming is a way to help make sure your cat lives a long and happy life, as well as a way to save time and the hassle of doing the grooming yourself!
