What Veterinary Facility Do You Need?

If your pet is sick, or if it is time for a check-up, you typically will think that you need to see a veterinarian. Though this is true, there are different types of places that veterinarians practice at, such as centers, hospitals, clinics, and offices. There are differences between all of them, and depending on your needs, you will want to go to the correct one.

Veterinary Center

Here at Metro Vet, we are a veterinary center first and foremost, but are also an animal hospital. If a veterinary practice has the word “Center” in it, it is safe to assume that they offer a broad range of services. For example, at Metro Vet, we take pride in offering many types of surgeries, oncological care, and more.

Animal Hospital

A veterinary hospital offers in-patient and out-patient diagnostics and treatment. There are also veterinary teaching hospitals where there are students working towards their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Metro Vet is an animal hospital, but not a teaching hospital. Animal hospitals have many amenities compared to places such as clinics or offices, fit with a surgical area, an X-ray room, medical boarding area, and more.

In addition to better facilities, the equipment must be of the highest quality for both an animal hospital and a veterinary center. Though this is also true for clinics, there is more equipment, and the equipment is more advanced as well. Oftentimes, animal hospitals/centers must have a pharmacy, and you will find one in Metro Vet as well.

Staff

Due to the larger facilities and greater number of services, the staff is often more experienced and bigger at centers and hospitals. The veterinarians, as well as the other members of the staff, must continue their studies and train. All of the record keeping must be maintained at a high standard.

All of the veterinarians and assistants at Metro Vet are extremely qualified and are able provide the best of care to your pet. Whether you need a general appointment for your pet, or more advanced care, such as surgery or oncological care, Metro Vet is here for you. Contact us to schedule an appointment today!
